Happy Holidays or Silent Night, Deadly Night in Theaters!

Very cool news from the folks at FangoriaCharles E Sallier Jr.’s 1984 holiday cult horror classic SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT, will be in the theaters this December! Gotta give huge thanks to Fangoria Productions for doing this. I’m not a person who is completely offended by the idea of horror remakes, but, hell, if you can see the original on the big screen, do it!

If you don’t know, and you should, SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT tells the tale of Billy Chapmen, orphaned at five after witnessing the murder of his parents at the hands of a Santa suit-clad madman on Christmas Eve. Now eighteen and out of the brutal grip of orphanage nuns, Billy is forced to confront his greatest fear, sending him on a rampage, leaving a crimson trail in the snow behind him.

Evil nuns. Yes, this movie speaks to my heart. Played by the great Lilyan Chauvin. Anyway…

Fangoria Presents, in conjunction with Screenvision, delivers this seasonal slasher essential in a stunning new HD transfer for the ultimate experience in ho-ho-horror! I wish I could claim the ho-ho-horror line. But it’s from their press release.

The list of participating theaters is huge, including the Blackstone Valley Cinemas in Millbury about five miles away from my home! How cool is that! H.P. Lovecraft loved hanging out in the Blackstone Valley. A fact that has nothing to do with SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT. I just felt like saying it.

This is a must see this season. Great 80’s slasher film with heavy Catholic undertones. Not that I have an ax to grind.

Check out the new trailer.

It looks like Christmas is coming a little early this year!
