Horror Movies for October #8

Any horror list worth its salt wouldn’t exist without solid examples of real indie horror films. That’s where you find the work of people who absolutely love the genre. Today’s film is Lou Simon’s 2013 “Hazmat“. This is a perfect love letter to the old slasher movies with a very modern twist. Reality TV. Here is the synopsis from the website:
“The television crew of the Scary Antics hidden camera show sets up innocent chumps for scary practical jokes on national television. For a special behind-the-scenes episode, a group of friends wants to set up Jacob, a disturbed young man who is having problems adjusting after his father’s death at a chemical factory. Jacob is convinced that the factory is haunted, and now Scary Antics is going to prove him right.” That’s about as perfect as it gets.

    Peace Skip,

    Thank you.

For a contemporary horror film, the “Hazmat” trailer augurs well for Mr. Simon’s and his team’s cinematic vision.

(With the exception of your approach and a handful of other examples likely to make your list, I’m underwhelmed with our 21st century’s horror film portfolio.)

It feels like the “Hazmat” trailer’s highlights are just the tip of the iceberg.

I’ve added it to my list.

    Cordially,

    Che!
